How to attract and retain talent is undoubtedly one of the biggest challenges
for HR specialists and, in general,
for companies today. Having lived through a pandemic has changed the rules of
the game for many employers and employees, and these relations have become more
complex. But that is not necessarily a bad thing; on the contrary, it is an
opportunity to review procedures and update them to match the current
tendencies of the workforce in 2022.
In addition, being able to attract
and, above all, retain talent has a
direct positive impact on productivity and the company's image, as well as
reducing employee turnover and saving costs in the recruitment process.
Needless to say, in today's world,
some basics must be covered, especially if we are talking about millennial or Gen-Z employees, who we already
mentioned in a previous article. So a healthy work environment, a realistic workload, and an appropriate work-life balance are non-negotiable.
Also, these days, flexibility is key.
Today, however, we are going one
step further and discussing some tools
or resources for HR specialists to better attract and retain talent.
Feedback tools
There are many varied listening tools, and it is key that you
make at least some of them available to employees. It is important to be attentive
to what they have to say and to actively listen to their suggestions to improve
their life in the company.
You can collect their feedback
through anonymous surveys, an e-mail suggestion box, an employee portal, or
even social media.
Remind them periodically that these
channels are available to them and, when you receive their comments, be sure to
answer them and consider their proposals. Then let them know whether or not the
company has been able to implement them and why.
If employees feel appreciated, and listened
to, it will be easier for them to develop a sense of belonging, thus engaging
and identifying with the company's culture.
Learning platform
Especially for the younger
generations, continuing to learn and improve professionally in the workplace is
key when choosing a company to work with, and then stay in. So, in addition to
a competitive salary, it will help you attract
and retain talent to offer a learning
platform where employees can access training to continue learning while on
the job.
This, in addition to benefiting each
employee individually as a professional, will also revert to the company, which
will profit from having talented, prepared, and competent staff in its sector.
Reward & incentive program
And last, but certainly not least, a
rewards and incentive program is
what will take the company to the next level when it comes to attracting and
retaining talent. Employee benefits
have proven to be an effective tool for this purpose and can make a difference when
it comes to reducing employee turnover.
These incentives and benefits can be
varied, but a sure hit is rewarding
employees with travel. Whether it is a gift
card for a weekend getaway or a discount
on their next vacation, employees greatly appreciate being encouraged to travel
and have time off. If you want to learn more about the benefits of having an employee travel incentive program, you
